1. Access and correction
You can request a copy of personal information linked to your account or ask for inaccurate information to be corrected through the app or by emailing hello@ratemyinstructor.co.uk. We may need to verify identity before responding.
2. Deleting an account
Open your profile settings in the app and choose Delete account. This applies to learner and instructor accounts. You may be asked to sign in again to confirm the request. The service removes the private profile, saved instructors, blocked-reviewer list, private review activity, phone reservation and account-linked support requests and reports from the active app database, and removes or replaces identity fields in retained public records. The sign-in account is removed after that cleanup succeeds. Private app data cached on the device is cleared when the app completes the flow. You can also request deletion by emailing hello@ratemyinstructor.co.uk.
3. Reviews after account deletion
Published review text and ratings may remain to preserve the review record. The display name is replaced with Deleted user, account contact fields are removed, and public review summaries are refreshed. A pseudonymous identifier may remain on the review for uniqueness and abuse-prevention purposes and can link retained reviews from the same former account. Please identify any personal information inside review text that you want us to assess for removal; replacing the display name does not automatically remove information written in the review itself.
4. Purchase records
The current optional purchases are Founding Supporter and a 7-day sponsored instructor placement. They are one-time purchases, not automatically renewing subscriptions. Deleting an account does not itself request a store refund. Apple, Google or RevenueCat may retain purchase records under their own policies and legal obligations. The app may retain a purchase-redemption marker without the purchaser’s account identifier to prevent the same purchase being redeemed again; an already redeemed sponsored placement may continue until its recorded end date.
5. Instructor profiles
An instructor or authorised representative may request access, correction, objection, restriction or removal of a community-added profile. We will consider the source, professional nature of the information, user interests, legal basis, accuracy, safety and any overriding legal reason to retain information.
6. Limits and exceptions
Deletion and objection rights are not absolute. We may retain limited information where necessary for legal claims, fraud and abuse prevention, safety, accounting, compliance, complaint handling or another lawful reason. Where a request cannot be completed in full, we will explain the reason where legally permitted.
7. Response and identification
Provide the email associated with the account and enough information to identify the relevant profile or content. We may ask for proportionate evidence of identity or authority. Requests are handled within the periods required by applicable data-protection law.
8. Contact
Data requests can be made through the app or sent to hello@ratemyinstructor.co.uk.
