1. Publication approach
Reviews and community-added instructor profiles normally appear after submission and are not routinely pre-approved. Publication is not an endorsement or confirmation that every statement or detail is accurate. We use proportionate controls and investigate content after reports or other risk signals.
2. Review integrity
Reviews must reflect a genuine first-hand experience or genuine attempt to take lessons. Fake, purchased, concealed incentivised, retaliatory, coordinated, copied or manipulated reviews are prohibited. Positive and negative reviews are treated under the same rules, and paid features do not change ratings or review visibility.
3. Banned content
Content may be restricted or removed where it includes threats, harassment, hate, fraud, impersonation, stalking, doxxing, sexual exploitation, unlawful instructions, private personal information, spam, profanity, irrelevant material, intellectual-property infringement or allegations known to be false.
4. Instructor-profile accuracy
Community-added profiles may not have been created or confirmed by the instructor. Users and instructors can report incorrect, outdated, duplicate, impersonating or privacy-intrusive profiles. Claimed, promoted and verified statuses are separate.
5. Reporting
Users can report a review or profile in the app and can submit a wider legal, privacy or safety complaint through Help & Safety or the Content Complaints & Appeals page. Reports should identify the content, explain the concern, provide relevant facts and state the outcome requested.
6. Review and outcomes
We may ask the complainant, reviewer or instructor for more information. Depending on the circumstances, we may leave content unchanged, add restrictions, correct profile data, merge duplicates, remove content, preserve evidence, restrict an account or refer a serious matter to an appropriate authority. We do not promise a particular outcome merely because a report is submitted.
7. Appeals
A person directly affected by a moderation decision may request a review through Help & Safety or email. The appeal should identify the decision, explain why it may be wrong and include relevant evidence. A different assessment will be used where reasonably practicable.
8. Urgent and illegal content
If someone is in immediate danger, contact emergency services. Potentially illegal content is prioritised, but Rate My Instructor is not an emergency or law-enforcement service. We may preserve information and cooperate with lawful requests from authorities.
9. Younger users
The service may be used by 17-year-old learners. Learner profiles are private, image uploads are disabled and precise learner location is not publicly displayed. Younger users should not include school details, private addresses, health information or unnecessary contact details in public content.
10. Contact
Safety concerns, content reports and appeals can be submitted in the app or sent to hello@ratemyinstructor.co.uk.
